Thank you for the pictures! It helps us here at home get a peek into your lives in Haiti. Brooks we miss you and are so excited for this opportunity the Lord has given to you! Hugs, blessings, and prayers for all... Dad and Mom Elliott
Hi Elise! We're glad to hear that you are surviving in spite of the fall into guano. Once I fell up to my waist in soft mud along one of the side canyons leading into the Grand Canyon, only my backpack stopped me from going further until someone tossed me a rope and pulled me out.
We visited a lot of bat caves on our many trips to Bali. In Bali, which is a very beautiful Hindu island in Indonesia, some of the bat caves have a unique religious significance to the local population and have become shrines as well as being reputed to contain serpents. It's also the religion of India and a very difficult one to understand because they have a whole pantheon of gods rather than being a mono-theistic religion. They also believe in reincarnation, another concept which is hard to fathom.
During the day the caves are full of bats because they are nocturnal creatures that fly out at sunset to hunt for insects. The caves there also have many souvenir sellers that can become a nuisance at times. Lots of Love, Grandma and Boppa
